Excellent resource This book is filled with very practical information about keeping your brain sharp as well as information on how to reverse memory loss. Memory loss is not inevitable.
lots of info both for prevention and treatment This books has lots of good info.
It tells you what things you may be eating that are very bad for your brain and also what things you should eat. It also has some simple exercise to do at home to keep your brain sharp and healthy.
I really like also the available tests that you can do to measure how your brain is already doing, so you can tell your doctor you want those tests. I didn't know they existed, and it even gives you where to get the ones you can do yourself.
Then it has information on specific brain injuries/diseases, and on top of that, it has some recipes too.
Actually there is more, it's fun to read too.
Nothing Too Novel, Possibly Misleading It looked interesting and useful flipping through in the store, but I stopped reading a quarter of the way through - which is why I still gave it 3 stars though feeling it was a waste of money and further time. If you don't have a chronic illness, and have never read about free radicals and antioxidants, mercury in fish and modern chemicals, things that many doctors and lay authors have already covered, you'll probably like it. The overall message I was quickly getting is that we're all stressed out toxic cases headed toward Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, but can lick those by chugging B-vitamins and Sam-E, eating some of his choice recipes, and doing mental exercise. Yeah, right; tell Michael J. Fox or Mrs. Reagan that. The author's a neurologist now in private practice, where he can sell and preach whatever he likes, including how drug companies rob you of your precious vitamins. He's not at a university, teaching hospital, or other research center, where I'm sure brain diseases aren't perceived as that simple. Overall, it's not all necessarily bad advice, but neither too novel, and likely quite simplistic.
A Must Have Book A sure-fire way to avoid the tragedy of the aging brain and avoid chronic diseases of old age including Alzheimers, Parkinsons and dementia. This book will teach you how to protect your brain, the "computer" of the body. Buy it-use it be well!
Good book This is an extremely easy to read and informative health book. I'm glad I read it and have bought several copies for family members.
