Embrace your dark side Debbie Ford has the credentials to talk about the Dark Side since she's been to hers and lived to tell about it. In our subconscious lies our secrets, the things we'd rather not show, but also, it holds our power. Ford shows that it's okay to be angry at the right person, at the right time in the right amount, in fact it shows emotional maturity. Anger doesn't go away if we don't express it, instead it stays with us manifesting as dis-ease of some sort. And yes, we all have anger, we all have a dark side.
I might venture to say that women have a harder time showing their anger because society teaches us to be nice and long-suffering. While being compassionate is good, it's also okay to fight for what you believe and to fight hard.
Reclaiming the hurt, angry, suffering parts of ourselves can be the key to peace in our lives. Ford lays it out clearly. She's not the first to write about our Shadow Side, but she's one of the best. I highly recommend this book in fact I gave mine to a friend, she read it and then passed it on to someone else who was going through their 'dark night of the soul'.
When I Dream
Simple yet empowering Debbie Ford's book offers a simple step-by-step approach to uncovering and embracing those parts of ourselves that we may have been unwilling or unable to look at in the past. The benefits of doing this work are immeasurable. She has made the process understandable and do-able. I highly recommend it.
One of those books you have to eread I bought this book years ago when I saw Debbie Ford on Oprah. For whatever reason, I never read it. Recently, I was Debbie's new movie "Shadow Effect" and was so moved by it that I went back and read this book. Woe. I can't help but think if I read this book years ago I might be a different person today. For me, my issue has always been that I judgmental. I didn't want to be this way, but had no idea how to stop. After reading this book, I felt such relief as I learn how to have an awareness of my dark side and then how to see it can actually be a benefit to me and I don't have to continue beating myself up for being who I am.
I know "shadow work" was originated by Carl Jung and other people such as Ken Wilber have written about it, but I feel, for someone who is just starting on exploring their shadow this, by far, is the best book you can read to begin the exploration.
Fabulous I loved this book. I read it in tandum with her book the 21 Day Consciousness Cleanse. It's a great starter book for someone who wants to get started in doing personal growth work for themselves or a great refresher for someone who's done work and just needs a boost. Well written and easy to read.
Excellent book if you're on the same wave length as me I bought this book, Dark Side of the Light Chasers 10 years ago and everytime I reread it it becomes new all over again and I get more out of it each time. It's about accepting all your qualities and seeing them in others so you can accept the world as it is, and more,it taps into your subconscious so you can see truth clearly. I could go on. I had to buy a new copy, my old one is so beat up. It's just one of many books I believe that can change the world we live in for the better.
